The 2020 – 2021 school year has ended, and it was one we will not soon forget.
The Covid-19 Pandemic caused each of us to stop our regular routines and recalibrate how we lived in our world. For us, as educators, we had to reconsider how we were going to provide a quality education to our students, while at the same time, keeping each of them, and ourselves, safe and emotionally prepared to handle the changes of each day. A daunting task, to be sure.
Today, in June, I can look back with pride at how well everyone worked together to meet so many extraordinary challenges. Families made bold choices about in-person verses distance learning, teachers and staff developed strategies to meet students’ academic and emotional needs, and the children accepted our new safety protocol and routines without issue. I am so proud of the leadership shown by so many members of our school family. It was truly remarkable!
This summer must be a time of rest and rejuvenation for all of us. Spending quality time with family and friends will be the key to being prepared for the next school year. Who knows what challenges may be ahead?
This is my final message to you as the Principal of Cheat Lake Elementary School. My official retirement begins on July 1, 2021. I am looking forward to spending more time with my family and friends, and I send each of you my best wishes for health and happiness, and remember…
Be Kind, Be Kind, Be Kind!
