E.Gordon Gee inspires students during the Hour of Code Assembly

On December 8th 2017 Mylan Park Elementary participated in the global movement, The Hour of Code. The Hour of Code takes place in December during Computer Science Education week.

Mylan Park partnered with WVU's Center for Excellence in STEM Education to spotlight why Computer Science Education is so important for our student's futures and the future of our state.

The event featured many special guests including the President of WVU; E.Gordon Gee as well as Secretary of Education and the Arts; Gayle Manchin, Dr. Gay Stewart and Amanda Jelsema from WVU CE-STEM, Frank Vitale from the State Board and Superintendent of Monongalia County Schools; Dr. Frank Devono. The event also featured video words of encouragement from Senator Shelley Moore Capito, Senator Joe Manchin and Superintendent of WV Schools; Dr. Steven Paine.
